The Beth Rowley concert
Imagine our surprise when we managed to buy tickets at the last minute for her performance at the Bath Fringe Festival last week!
It was a lovely summer's day as we
took a walk to the concert venue by the river in downtown Bath.
Inside the tent!
Burgundy drapes with stained glass windows and old jazz music playing in the background gives it an old music hall feel.....
Hello, people of Bath! And she tells us some childhood memories of Bath....can't hear her very well but that doesn't matter as she speaks so charmingly....
She happily gives us a signed photo and poses for a photo. Nice ending to a perfect day!
When's the next Beth Rowley concert?

Home
Work
Working over the summer (may-aug) at The Crown Surgery in Eccleshall, a small market town 9 miles from home.
The surgery building used to be an old pub. Only in England will they try to provide 21st century health services in a medieval building!
A bit of history....
'....the remaining coaching inns on High Street have dual
significance. They are physical evidence of the town’s
role as staging post on the coaching routes. The covered
arcades of the Crown (now Crown Surgery) and Royal
Oak, supporting the first floor encroachments over the
street, are key visual features of the town and once
sheltered the butter market. The Crown encapsulates
an earlier, probably medieval, cruck framed timber
building, possibly the oldest surviving secular building
in the town...' (staffordshire borough council conservation area)

Music
This is my guitar -bought 9 months ago.
This week's music lesson is 'The Boxer' (simon&garfunkel) - took this recording of my music teacher so I can use it when I practice! Click on the play button to listen.....
Very slow progress......
Better progress on other musical fronts:-
- Going to a Beth Rowley concert in Bath this weekend! This is the first concert in years, certainly the first since coming to the UK. Latest 'singing sensation'. Can't believe tickets only cost £8!

Listening to music has taken a quantum leap into new territory!
- iTunes party shuffle has access to our entire CD collection and takes the arguments out of whose music we are going to listen to next!
- Internet radio blows my mind! Check out Jango on my favourite websites section. No DJ- you tap into what other people are listening to but the best feature is the lyrics displayed karoake style to sing along to!
